Brownfield Community Library is open!

We are open on Tuesdays from 12-6 PM for curbside pick up and the public can physically enter the library from 4-6 PM only. On Thursdays we are open from 12-5 PM for curbside pickup and the public can physically enter the library from 4-5 PM only. 

If you are here for curbside pickup please call the library. Please leave your returns in the drop box outside the door. 


Here is what to expect when you visit the library:
  • Returned materials will be quarantined for 72 hours before being checked in. Fines will be waived until further notice.
  • The number of patrons in the library will be limited to 5 at a time. Please be patient. 
  • We would like to encourage patrons to do their best to limit their time in the library to 15 minutes. 
  • A maximum of two families will be permitted in the children's area at one time as long as social distancing can be maintained.
  • One person down an aisle for browsing.
  • Tables and chairs will not be available at this time.
  • Public washrooms will be available.
  • One computer will be available to the public

cloudLibrary

3M Cloud Library

A growing eBook collection. Parkland Regional Library and TRAC libraries have partnered to participate in cloudlinking. This service links our eBook collections which doubles the amount of digital books available!

Accessing eBooks on a computer

  1. Go to the cloudLibrary website. (Available through www.prl.ab.ca/elibrary)
  2. Click the Download App button in the upper right of the screen.
  3. Choose PC App or Mac App on the left side of the screen. Download the app.
  4. Open the app. Follow the prompts and login.
  5. A pop up box will appear asking you to activate your computer. Leave it set to Automatically generate ID for cloudLibrary, unless you have an Adobe ID you’d prefer to enter.
  6. Find a book on the Featured lists or click Browse to see additional titles.
  7. To check out an eBook, click on the cover. Click the green Borrow button. The book will automatically download into My Books. To start reading your eBook, click the cover.
  8. If the book is unavailable, place a hold by clicking the Add to Hold List button. To be notified of your hold, click Settings. Click Yes, notify me and enter your email address.

Transferring eBooks from a computer to an eReader

  1. Turn on your eReader and plug it into the computer.
  2. Click the My Books tab in the cloudLibrary app, and click the Transfer to Device button.
  3. The book will automatically expire after 21 days. To remove the book from your Kobo, tap and hold the cover. Tap Remove.

Accessing eBooks on a tablet or smartphone

  1. Access the app store on your device and search for the free cloudLibrary app. Install.
  2. Open the app on your device and tap the screen to continue. Follow the prompts and login.
  3. Use the menu in the top left corner to view the library's collection. Tap Featured or Browse.
  4. To check out an eBook, tap the cover, then tap Borrow.
  5. Put unavailable titles on hold by tapping Hold. To be notified of your hold, tap the menu button in the top left corner. Tap Settings, then tap Email for notifications and follow the prompts.
  6. Tap My Books in the menu to see your checked out titles. To open and read, tap on the eBook.
